Bearing You Up in Angels Hands - Psalms 91:12

In Psalms ninety-one the Psalmist said Jehovah God, “shall give his angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways”, and in chapter ninety-one and verse twelve the Psalmist says, “they shall bear you up in their hands” where we read,

They shall bear you up in their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone.

The verse begins, They shall bear you up in their hands, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “they shall bear you up” or “they, the angels of Jehovah God, will carry, take, lift up, support, sustain and exalt you, people who dwell in the secret place of the most High,” “in their hands” which means “within their, the angels', palms or hallow or flat part of the hands”. The Psalmist said the “angels” of Jehovah God would lift up and exalt the people who dwell in the secret place of the most High.

The verse continues, “... lest you dash your foot against a stone. The Psalmist added the words, “lest you dash your foot” or “except or peradventure you, the people who dwell in the secret place of the most High, strike, smite and stumble your, the people who dwell in the secret place of the most High's, physical foot” “against a stone” which means “in opposition to a marble or stone like object”. The Psalmist said the “angels” of Jehovah God would watch over the people who dwell in the secret place of the most High so they would not strike their physical feet against a rock or “stone”.

When consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist said Jehovah God's “angels” would watch over people who dwell under the shadow of the Almighty so they would not smite their feet against a rock or stone. This is the verse satan used against Jesus as he tempted Him in the wilderness. (See Matthew 4:5; Luke 4:11) God desires to make provision for and protect those who yield to Him through His Son Jesus whom He sent into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will defend and protect us from things that will harm us according to His Divine purpose and will. His desires are eternal, and when we need to be protected, even if it is against stumbling on a stone, He will give us the protection and provision we need.

Next time the Psalmist says, “you shall tread upon the lion and the adder”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
