Delivered from the Snare of the Fowler - Psalms 91:3

In Psalms ninety-one the Psalmist said, “He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust”, and in chapter ninety-one and verse two the Psalmist said, “He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler” where we read,

Surely he shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.

The verse begins, “Surely he shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “Surely he shall deliver you” or “yes, indeed and doubtless he, Jehovah God, will rescue, save and liberated you, the people who dwell in the secret place” “from the snare” which means “separate and apart from the trap or springing net” “of the fowler” or “belonging to the bait layer who snares”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God would rescue and save the person who “dwells in the secret place” beneath His “shadow”.

The verse continues, “... and from the noisome pestilence. The Psalmist added the words, “and from the noisome” or “and separate and apart from the engulfing, destruction and calamity pertaining to” “pestilence” which means “plague, murrain or cattle disease”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God would also rescue and save the people who dwell in the secret place from engulfing plague or murrain.

When meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist shared how Jehovah God would indeed rescue and save the person who abides under His shadow from the trap of the person who spreads nets. He also will liberate them from destructive and engulfing plagues. God wants to protect and preserve those who align with His plan of salvation through His Son Jesus, and because He sent Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, when we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and rescue us from any “snare” or “pestilence” that comes our way.

Next time the Psalmist says, “He shall cover you with his feathers”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
