He that Dwells in the Secret Place - Psalms 91:1

In Psalms ninety-one and verse one the Psalmist said, “He that dwells in the secret place of the most High” where we read,

He that dwells in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

The verse begins, “He that dwells in the secret place of the most High ...” The Psalmist began with the words, “He that dwells” or “the person whether male or female who abides, inhabits, lives and remains” “in the secret place” which means “within the covert, hidden, private and protected location or shelter” “of the most High” or “belonging to the uppermost, Supreme and elevated One”. The Psalmist referred to the person who lives and abides within the hidden and protected location belonging to the uppermost and Supreme God Jehovah.

The verse goes on to say, “... shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” The Psalmist added the words, “shall abide” or “will lodge, remain and stay permanently” “under the shadow” which means “beneath the shade, defense and protection” “of the Almighty” or “belonging to the most powerful Shaddai”. The Psalmist said the people who live under Jehovah God's hidden and private location will stay permanently beneath His protection.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist said people who live and remain within the hidden and concealed location of Jehovah God lodge and stay permanently beneath the shade and defense of Him. God wants to protect and provide for people because He loves them. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die for the sins of every person, and when we surrender our lives to Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and be our defense and protection for now and all eternity.

Next time the Psalmist says, “I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
