The Beauty of the LORD upon Us - Psalms 90:17

In Psalms ninety Moses said to Jehovah God, “Make us glad according to the days wherein you have afflicted us, and the years wherein we have seen evil. Let your work appear unto your servants, and your glory unto their children”, and in chapter ninety and verse seventeen of Psalms Moses said, “let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us” where we read,

And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us:

and establish you the work of our hands upon us; yes, the work of our hands establish you it.

The verse begins, And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: Moses began with the words, “and let the beauty” or “and allow and permit the kindness, pleasantness, delightfulness and favor” “of the LORD” which means “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “our God” or “our, Moses and the people with him, Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God” “be upon us” which means “exist on us, Moses and the people who were with him”. Moses desired to have the kindness and favor of the Diving judge Jehovah God upon him and the people with him.

The verse goes on to say, “and establish you the work of our hands upon us; yes, the work of our hands establish you it. Moses added the words, “and establish you” or “and you, Jehovah God, make firm, stabilize, fix and make firmly set ” “the work of our hands” which means “the deeds, labor and undertakings of our, Moses and the people with him, physical hands which represented strength and power” “upon us” or “on us, Moses and the people with him”; “yes, the work of our hands” which means “even so and indeed, the belonging to our, Moses and the people with him, hands which represented strength and power” “establish you it” or “you, Jehovah God, make stable, firm and fixed”. Moses appealed to Jehovah God to set and fix His strength and power on him and the people, and he repeated the idea of God making their physical hands established which represented power and might.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how Moses wanted Jehovah God to show him and the people with him favor, and he desired the strength and might of God to be upon them. God wants to care for His people, and when we yield to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our errors and wrongs, we will be forgiven our sins, granted us everlasting life and firmly set us in His power, strength and favor.

Next time we begin a new chapter see the Psalmist say, “He that dwells in the secret place of the most High”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
