It is Good to Give Thanks to the LORD - Psalms 92:1

Psalms ninety-two begins with the heading, “[[A Psalm or Song for the sabbath day.]]” which breaks down, “A Psalm” or “a melody or poem set to notes” “or Song” which means “or lyrical and religious ode” “for the sabbath day” or “to be used on the seventh day of the week which is to be a day of rest, intermission and atonement”, and in chapter ninety-two and verse one of Psalms the Psalmist said, It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD” where we read,

It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto your name, O most High:

The verse begins, It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “it is a good thing” or “the following exists as a pleasant, agreeable and excellent thing” “to give thanks” which means “to offer laud, praise and thanksgiving” “unto the LORD” or “to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. The Psalmist declared it to be a pleasant and agreeable thing to offer thanksgiving and praise to Jehovah God.

The verse goes on to say,... and to sing praises unto your name, O most High: The Psalmist continued with the words, “and to sing praises” or “and to make worship music with a voice” “unto your name” which means “to your, Jehovah God's, fame, reputation and glory”, “O most High” or “O uppermost, lofty and Supreme God”. The Psalmist said it was also a “good thing” to make musical worship toward Jehovah God who is the Supreme God of the Universe.

When consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist proclaimed the beauty of offering thanksgiving and honor to Jehovah God. God is our Creator, and He desires to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus. He sent Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins so we can live forever with Him in Heaven. When we believe and trust in Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and encourage us to bless and worship Him with our singing voices as we offer thanksgiving and “praise” to Him for His blessings to us.

Next time the Psalmist shares about Jehovah God's, “lovingkindness” and “faithfulness”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
