Making the LORD Your Habitation - Psalms 91:9

In Psalms ninety-one the Psalmist said, “Only with your eyes shall you behold and see the reward of the wicked”, and in chapter ninety-one and verse nine the Psalmist shared about making, “the most High, your habitation” where we read,

Because you have made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, your habitation;

The verse begins, Because you have made the LORD, which is my refuge, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “because you have made the LORD” or “since and on account that you, the people who dwell in the secret place of the most High, have set, put, appointed, ordained and established Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “which is my refuge” which means “who exists as my, the Psalmist's, shelter from danger and falsehood”. The Psalmist said since the people who dwell in the secret place of the most High ordained and appointed Jehovah God who was their place of shelter from danger, their eyes only would “behold the reward of the wicked”.

The verse goes on to say, “... even the most High, your habitation; The Psalmist continued with the words, “even the most High” or “indeed the uppermost, elevated and Supreme One”, “your habitation” which means “your, the people who dwell in the secret place of the most High's, lair, refuge and dwelling place”. The Psalmist said the people who would only see with their eyes the reward of the wicked indeed elevated the Supreme One who was the dwelling place of them as they remained under God's shadow.

When consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist gave the answer for the people being protected by Jehovah God. The people who dwelt in the shadow of the most High had God as their shelter and abode. In other words, they lived with God and God lived with them. God loves people, and He desires to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus, and He sent Jesus into the world to die for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and allow us to make Him our “refuge” and “habitation” for all eternity.

Next time the Psalmist says, “there shall no evil befall you”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
