No Evil Shall Befall You - Psalms 91:10

In Psalms ninety-one the Psalmist said, “Only with your eyes shall you behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because you have made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, your habitation ...”, and in chapter ninety-one and verse ten the Psalmist said, “there shall no evil befall you” where we read,

There shall no evil befall you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling.

The verse begins, There shall no evil befall you, ... The Psalmist began with the words, “there shall no evil” or “there will not any bad, disagreeableness, malignancy, unpleasantness, wickedness or unkindness” “befall you” which means “meet, encounter or approach you, people who dwell in the secret place of the most High”. The Psalmist said there would not be any unpleasantness or wickedness approach or encounter the people who dwell under Jehovah God's shadow.

The verse continues, “... neither shall any plague come near your dwelling. The Psalmist added the words, “neither shall any plague” or “no and not in any way will a disease, stroke, wound or mark” “come near your dwelling” which means “approach, enter or be brought close to your, the people who dwell in the secret place of the most High's, habitation, tent, home or covering”. The Psalmist said there would not be any disease or wound that would approach the people who dwell under the shadow of Jehovah God.

When meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist said wickedness and disease would be kept away from the people who abide in Jehovah God. The idea is that nothing is more powerful than Him, and anyone who surrenders to God through His Son Jesus will be forgiven of their sins, granted everlasting life and protected by Jehovah God from the eternal wickedness and disease that is within the world.

Next time the Psalmist says, “he shall give his angels charge over you”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
