When the Wicked Spring as the Grass - Psalms 92:7

In Psalms ninety-two the Psalmist said, “O LORD, how great are your works! and your thoughts are very deep. A brutish man knows not; neither does a fool understand this”, and in chapter ninety-two and verse seven of Psalms the Psalmist shared about, “when the wicked spring as the grass” where we read,

When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish;

it is that they shall be destroyed for ever:

The verse begins, When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; The Psalmist began with the words, “When the wicked” or “at the time and moment people who are criminal, guilty of sin and hostile to God” “spring as the grass” which means “bud, sprout, bloom and sent out shoots”, “and when all the workers” or “and at the time and moment each, every, the whole and everyone of the ones who practice, commit, make and ordain” “of iniquity” which means “pertaining to trouble, wickedness, sorrow and idolatry” “do flourish” or “shine, gleam, blossom, sparkle and show forth”. The Psalmist considered the people who commit evil acts and are hostile to God as they sprout, bloom and shine.

The verse goes on to say,it is that they shall be destroyed for ever: The Psalmist continued with the words, “it is that they” or “it exists that they, the people who are wicked and hostile to God” “shall be destroyed” which means “will be exterminated, annihilated and devastated” “for ever” or “for long duration, unto perpetuity, continuous existence and perpetually”. The Psalmist said the people who commit wickedness will be exterminated and annihilated perpetually and unto continuous existence.

When consider the words in this verse, we see how the Psalmist shared about people who are evil and hostile to God when they seem to “flourish” in this world. Rather than being judged for their actions, they seem to prosper in them. This is not eternal. God will bring all things into judgment, and everyone will give an account to God for what they have done in their bodies. (See Romans 14:12) God knew this, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and contend with those who commit evil and wickedness against Him.

Next time the Psalmist says, “you, LORD, are most high for evermore”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
