Before Your Pots Feel the Thorns - Psalms 58:9

In Psalms chapter fifty eight David appealed to Jehovah God concerning the wicked to, “Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: break out the great teeth of the young lions, O LORD. Let them melt away as waters which run continually: when he bends his bow to shoot his arrows, let them be as cut in pieces. As a snail which melts, let every one of them pass away: like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun”, and in chapter fifty-eight and verse nine of Psalms David said, “Before your pots can feel the thorns, he shall take them away” where we read,

Before your pots can feel the thorns,

he shall take them away as with a whirlwind, both living, and in his wrath.

The verse begins, “Before your pots can feel the thorns, ... David began with the words, “Before your pots” or “in advance of the caldrons or wash pots possessed by you, the people who are affected by the wicked,” “can feel the thorns” which means “are able to discern, understand, consider, perceive, discern and know the brambles or buckthorns”. David said in advance of the caldrons of the people being affected by the wicked experience the heat of fast burning thorns, the following would occur.

The verse goes on to say, “... he shall take them away as with a whirlwind, both living, and in his wrath. David continued with the words, “he shall take them away” or “he, the Divine judge Jehovah God will bristle, shiver and make them dread and be afraid” “as with a whirlwind” which means “in the same manner as a sweeping tempestuous storm”, “both living” or “those that are alive, lively, flowing, fresh and active”, “and in his wrath” which means “and within his, Jehovah God's, anger, heat, fury and sore displeasure”. David said Jehovah God would remove the wicked while they're alive with anger like a tempestuous storm.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David desired Jehovah God to remove the wicked so quickly that it would be faster than a “pot” can feel the heat of burning thorns. David knew God could angrily dispose of the wicked any time he desired, and even while they were alive, he could destroy them. God's desire is to save mankind, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all people. We don't have to identify with the wicked when we surrender our lives to Jesus Christ who has promised to forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life with Him. Jehovah God will indeed bring justice upon the wicked, but we have the opportunity to be among those who receive Jesus and never know His “wrath” that will take them away.

Next time David says, “The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
