Gilead and Manasseh is Mine - Psalms 60:7

In Psalms chapter sixty David said, “God has spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth”, and in chapter sixty and verse seven of Psalms David said, “Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine” where we read,

Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine;

Ephraim also is the strength of my head; Judah is my lawgiver;

The verse begins, Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; David began with the words, “Gilead is mine” or “Gilead whose name means rocky region and was a mountainous region bounded on the west by the Jordan, on the north by Bashan, on the east by the Arabian plateau, and on the south by Moab and Ammon; sometimes called 'Mount Gilead' or the 'land of Gilead' or just 'Gilead'. Divided into north and south Gilead”, “and Manasseh” which means “and Manasseh whose name means causing to forget and was the eldest son of Joseph and progenitor of the tribe of Manasseh” “is mine” or “exists as mine, the Divine judge Jehovah God's”. David said both “Gilead and Manasseh” were his through the aid of Jehovah God.

The verse goes on to say,Ephraim also is the strength of my head; Judah is my lawgiver; David continued with the words, “Ephraim” or “double ash-heap or I shall be doubly fruitful and was the second son of Joseph, blessed by him and given preference over first son, Manasseh” “also is the strength” which means “even so and indeed exists as the place or means of safety, protection, refuge and stronghold” “of my head” or “belonging to my, David's, top, summit, upper part, height and front”; “Judah” which means “praised and was the territory occupied by the tribe of Judah” “is my lawgiver” or “exists as my, David's, cut out, decree, inscribe, engrave, portray and govern”. David said “Ephraim” was as the place of safety and refuge for him, and “Judah” was his “praise” and decree.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David described the regions where Jehovah God was in control, and He allowed David to become the conqueror over them. God gave territory to David, and David gave praise and honor to Him for His gifts. God desires to give gifts unto us, (See Ephesians 4:8) and He provided His greatest gift when He gave us His Son Jesus to die upon the cross to pay the penalty for our sins. When we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and accompany us with His Holy Spirit to lead and guide us into territories that He desires to bestow upon us. Let us give praise, honor and glory to Jehovah God and His Son Jesus for their desire not only to relate to us, but also to give us regions where we will acknowledge His good works and territories.

Next time David says, “Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
