God has Spoken in Holiness - Psalms 60:6

In Psalms chapter sixty David said, “You have showed your people hard things: you have made us to drink the wine of astonishment. You have given a banner to them that fear you, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah. That your beloved may be delivered; save with your right hand, and hear me”, and in chapter sixty and verse six of Psalms David said, “God has spoken in his holiness” where we read,

God has spoken in his holiness;

I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.

The verse begins, God has spoken in his holiness; David began with the words, “God has spoken” or “the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God uttered, declared and made proclamation” “in his holiness” which means “with sacredness, separateness, apartness and consecrated sanctity”. David said the Divine judge Jehovah God made utterances within His sacredness and consecrated sanctity.

The verse continues,I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth. David added the words, “I will rejoice” or “I, David, shall exult, triumph and jump for joy”, “I will divide Shechem” which means “I, David, shall plunder, apportion, assign and divide up Shechem whose name means back or shoulder and was a place in Palestine that was a city in Manasseh; located in a valley between Mount Ebal and Mount Gerizim, 34 miles (54 km) north of Jerusalem and 7 miles (10.5 km) southeast of Samaria”, “and mete out the valley of Succoth” or “and stretch out, measure and extend to the vale, lowland or open country belonging to Succoth whose name means booths and was the site where Jacob put up booths for his cattle and built a house for himself; apparently east of the Jordan near the ford of the torrent Jabbok and later allotted to the tribe of Gad”. David said he would jump for joy as he apportioned and divided the land of “Shechem” and measured the lowland of “Succoth”.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David was affected by the authoritative voice of Jehovah God, and because He heard God speak, He would joyfully be given the ability to divide up “Shechem” and measure the lowland of “Succoth”. In other words, David would conquer his enemies and take their land. God's desire is to have this type of relationship with every person, and He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind so when they believe and trust in Him, He will forgive their sins, grant them everlasting life and relate to them in such a way that they are glad and jump for joy as He makes them “more than conquerors”. (See Romans 8:37-39) God loves us, and He is for us, and we may trust in, rely upon and cling to Him as we encounter difficulties and troubles in this world.

Next time David says, “Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
