Enrimmon, Zareah and Jarmuth - Nehemiah 11:29

In the book of Nehemiah, Nehemiah said, For it was the king's commandment concerning them, that a certain portion should be for the singers, due for every day. And Pethahiah the son of Meshezabeel, of the children of Zerah the son of Judah, was at the king's hand in all matters concerning the people. And for the villages, with their fields, some of the children of Judah dwelt at Kirjathearba, and in the villages thereof, and at Dibon, and in the villages thereof, and at Jekabzeel, and in the villages thereof. And at Jeshua, and at Moladah, and at Bethphelet, and at Hazarshual, and at Beersheba, and in the villages thereof. And at Ziklag, and at Mekonah, and in the villages thereof”, and in chapter eleven and verse twenty-nine of Nehemiah, Nehemiah shared about, “Enrimmon, Zareah and Jaruth” where we read,

And at Enrimmon, and at Zareah, and at Jarmuth, ...

The verse reads, And at Enrimmon, and at Zareah, ...” Nehemiah began with the words, “and at Enrimmon” which means “and within the village known as Enrimmon whose name means fount of the pomegranate”, “and at Zareah” or “and within the village called Jarmuth whose name means hornet and was a town in Dan and the residence of Manoah and the home town of Samson”. Nehemiah shared how the towns of Enrimmon, and at Zareah” were among the villages where the people of Judah resided.

The verse goes on to say, “... and at Jarmuth,” Nehemiah continued with the words, “and at Jarmuth” which means “and within the village known as Jarmuth whose name means heights and was a Canaanitish city in the lowlands of Judah located between Heron and Lachish”. Nehemiah shared how the Canaanitish town of “Jarmuth” was one of the villages in which the people of Judah lived.

When we consider the words in this verse, we discover through Nehemiah three more names of the villages in which the people of Judah dwelled after coming back to their homeland. God spread His people of Israel all throughout the land of Judah, similar to the way He scatters Christians throughout the world who have received His Son Jesus who was crucified on the cross for the sins of the world and rose from the grave three days later as their “Savior and Lord”. “God so loved the world …” (See John 3:16) and everyone in the world is invited to receive Him to be forgiven of their sins, granted everlasting life and to become a part of His worldwide Kingdom who shall live with Him in Heaven forever.

Next time Nehemiah shares about, “Zanoah, Adullam, Lachish, Azekah, Beersheba and Hinnom”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
