In Psalms chapter twenty-one David said, “The king shall joy in your strength, O LORD; and in your salvation how greatly shall he rejoice! You have given him his heart's desire, and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah”, and in chapter twenty one and verse three David said, “You prevent him with the blessings of goodness” where we read,
For you prevent him with the blessings of goodness: you set a crown of pure gold on his head.
The verse begins, “For you prevent him with the blessings of goodness:” David began with the words, “For you prevent him” which means “because, since and on account that you, Jehovah God, confront, go before and precede him, king David” “with the blessings” or “by the use of prosperity, gifts and treaties” “of goodness” which means “pertaining to pleasant, agreeable and excellent things”. David said Jehovah God preceded him with prosperous gifts of excellent things.
The verse goes on to say, “you set a crown of pure gold on his head.” David continued with the words, “you set a crown of pure gold” or “you, Jehovah God, placed, put, stationed, appointed and fixed a wreath of refined and pure gold crown” “on his head” which means “upon his, king David's, summit, upper part, chief and the top of his head”. David wrote how Jehovah God coronated him with a “crown” made with refined gold.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how David knew Jehovah God went before him with the prosperity and gifts that came into his life. He knew God was the reason he was coronated king, and he was determined to give Jehovah the praise and honor not only for His provisions, but also for the position he held. God desires to have all people know Him in this intimate way, and He made provision for this by sending His Son Jesus to be our “Savior and Lord”. Jesus died for our sins, and when we believe and trust in Him, we will be forgiven of our sins and granted everlasting life with Him. Let us agree with David's thoughts about Jehovah God and realize He goes before us with His “blessings”, and He will elevate us to whatever positions of authority He has in mind for us as well.
Next time David says, “He asked life of you, and you gave it to him”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
