In Psalms chapter twenty-one David wrote about Jehovah God caring for the king and said, “you prevent him with the blessings of goodness: you set a crown of pure gold on his head. He asked life of you, and you gave it him, even length of days for ever and ever. His glory is great in your salvation: honor and majesty have you laid upon him”, and in chapter twenty one and verse six of Psalms David said, “you have made him most blessed for ever” where we read,
For you have made him most blessed for ever:
you have made him exceeding glad with your countenance.
The verse begins, “For you have made him most blessed for ever:” David began with the words, “For you have made him” which means “because, since and on account that you, Jehovah God, have put, set, placed and constituted him, king David” “most blessed for ever” or “abundantly prosperous unto the continuing future, perpetuity and continuous existence”. David gave Jehovah God the credit and glory for constituting him as abundantly prosperous unto perpetuity.
The verse continues, “you have made him exceeding glad with your countenance.” David added the words, “you have made him” or “you, Jehovah God, have put, set, placed and constituted him, king David as” “exceeding glad” which means “filled with joy, mirth, gladness, gaiety and pleasure” “with your countenance” or “by the use of your, Jehovah God's, face, front and presence”. David wrote how Jehovah God provided him with great joy and pleasure because His face and presence was toward him.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David not only acknowledged Jehovah God for the prosperity and perpetuity that he enjoyed, but also that His presence made David abundantly filled with joy. God blessed David, and God was present with David. He desires to do the same for us, and when we yield ourselves to His Son Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and “bless” us with His gifts and presence forever. God loves people, and we are wise to give Him praise, honor and glory for His benefits and presence which He offers to all who believe.
Next time David says, “the king trusts in the LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
