In Psalms chapter twenty-one David wrote about Jehovah God, “Your hand shall find out all your enemies: your right hand shall find out those that hate you. You shall make them as a fiery oven in the time of your anger: the LORD shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them. Their fruit shall you destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men. For they intended evil against you: they imagined a mischievous device, which they are not able to perform”, and in Psalms chapter twenty one and verse twelve David said, “Therefore shall you make them turn their back” where we read,
Therefore shall you make them turn their back,
when you shall make ready your arrows upon your strings against the face of them.
The verse begins, “Therefore shall you make them turn their back, ...” David began with the words, “Therefore shall you make them turn” which means “for, because, when and indeed you, Jehovah God, put, set, station, appoint and constitute the enemies who hate Jehovah God” “their back” or “Jehovah's enemies shoulders, consent and portion”. David said Jehovah God would force His hating enemies to “turn” their shoulders, consent and portion in an opposite direction.
The verse continues, “when you shall make ready your arrows upon your strings against the face of them.” David added the words, “when you shall make ready your arrows” or “at the time and moment you, Jehovah God, will prepare, make stable and firmly establish your, Jehovah God's, arrows for a shooting bow” “upon your strings” which means “on the cords of a bow” “against the face of them” or “because, beyond and above the front and presence of Jehovah God's hating enemies”. David wrote how Jehovah God would prepare his “arrows” in the “strings” of His bow in the presence of His hating enemies.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn from David how Jehovah God would prepare His weapons of war against His hating enemies. A “bow”, “arrows” and the skill of Jehovah God is all that is necessary to defeat the foes who hated Him. This is not God's desire initially with mankind because He loves everyone. He gave His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of the world, and anyone who relies upon, clings to and trusts in Jesus will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with Him. Let God be praised for His ability to prepare weapons in the presence of His enemies, but who is also ready and willing to save all who come to Him through Jesus.
Next time David says, “Be you exalted, LORD, in your own strength”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
