Psalms chapter twenty-two begins with David asking, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? why are you so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? O my God, I cry in the daytime, but you hear not; and in the night season, and am not silent. But you are holy, O you that inhabit the praises of Israel”, and in chapter twenty two and verse four of Psalms David said, “Our fathers trusted in you” where we read,
Our fathers trusted in you: they trusted, and you did deliver them.
The verse begins, “Our fathers trusted in you:” David began with the words, “Our fathers” which means “Our, David and the fellow believers in Jehovah God, male ancestors, forefathers or originators” “trusted in you” or “had confidence, felt safe and were secure in you, Jehovah God”. David referred to how the forefathers of he and his fellow believers felt safe and secure in Jehovah God.
The verse goes on to say, “they trusted, and you did deliver them.” David continued with the words, “they trusted or “David's forefathers had confidence, felt safe and were secure in Jehovah God”, “and you did deliver them” which means “and you, Jehovah God, rescued, brought into security and saved David and his fellow believer's forefathers”. David wrote how the forefathers of him and his fellow believers put the confidence within Jehovah God, and He rescued and saved them.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through David how the ancestors of he and his fellow believers put their faith and trust in Jehovah God, and the result was that He rescued and saved them. Because this was true, David was without understanding as to why God would abandon him. God desires for all people to have confidence in Him, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for their sins so anyone who yields to Him will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with Him. God will rescue us when we believe in Him even when it seems that He cannot be found, and for all eternity we shall praise Him for His wonderful salvation for all who surrender to Him.
Next time David says, “They cried unto you, and were delivered”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
