In Psalms chapter twenty-one David wrote about Jehovah God, “Your hand shall find out all your enemies: your right hand shall find out those that hate you. You shall make them as a fiery oven in the time of your anger: the LORD shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them. Their fruit shall you destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men”, and in chapter twenty one and verse eleven of Psalms David said, “They intended evil against you” where we read,
For they intended evil against you:
they imagined a mischievous device, which they are not able to perform.
The verse begins, “For they intended evil against you:” David began with the words, “For they intended” which means “because, since and on account the enemies who hate Jehovah God stretched out, extended, pitched and inclined” “evil against you” or “bad, malignancy, unhappiness and wicked unkindness in opposition to you, Jehovah God”. David said referred to how the enemies who hate Jehovah God extended and pitched wicked unkindness in opposition to Him.
The verse goes on to say, “they imagined a mischievous device, which they are not able to perform.” David continued with the words, “they imagined” or “the enemies who hated Jehovah God think, plan, esteem, calculate, invent and devise” “a mischievous device” which means “a wicked purpose, discretion, plot and lewdness”, “which they are not able to perform” or “that the enemies who hate Jehovah God do not have the power or ability to overcome, endure or reach”. David wrote how the enemies of Jehovah God invented and devised wicked plans and purposes which they do not have the ability to overcome or accomplish.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through David how the enemies of Jehovah God incline themselves toward wicked unkindness to Him, and they think about an evil plan which they do not have the ability to complete. Oh how foolish people are who think they can defeat and eliminate Jehovah God. God makes available a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus who came to die on the cross for the sins of the world, however, many people refuse and reject Him and exist as His enemies. Even though they attempt to bring wicked and evil plans against God to rid themselves of Him, they will never have the ability to do so. When we submit to Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”, He forgives our sins and grants us eternal life with Him. If we refuse, we find ourselves among the people who are the enemies who hate God and woe be to them in their eternal future.
Next time David says, “Therefore shall you make them turn their back”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
