Psalms chapter twenty-two begins with David asking, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? why are you so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring? O my God, I cry in the daytime, but you hear not; and in the night season, and am not silent”, and in chapter twenty two and verse three of Psalms David said, “You are holy, O you that inhabit the praises of Israel” where we read,
But you are holy, O you that inhabit the praises of Israel.
The verse begins, “But you are holy, ...” David began with the words, “But you” which means “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover you, Jehovah God” “are holy” or “exist as sacred and set apart both ceremonially and morally”. David declared Jehovah God to be “sacred” and set apart both morally and ceremonially.
The verse continues, “... O you that inhabit the praises of Israel.” David added the words, “O you that inhabit” or “O you, Jehovah God, who dwells, remains, sits and abides within” “the praises” which means “the song, hymn, adoration and thanksgiving” “of Israel” or “belonging to Israel whose name means God prevails and is the name of the descendants and the nation of the descendants of Jacob”. David said Jehovah God dwells within the “adoration and thanksgiving songs” offered by the nation and people of “Israel”.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through David not only how Jehovah God is “sacred”, but also that He dwells within the songs of thanksgiving and adoration belonging to “Israel” and it's people. God is pure, righteous, sacred and “holy”, and He loves when people sing songs of “praise” unto Him. In doing so, they acknowledge Jehovah God's sacredness, knowledge, purpose and plan for their lives, and they yield themselves to His authority rather than their own. God sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of the world, and everyone who humbles themselves and yields to Jesus will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with God. Praise be unto Jehovah God for His holiness and willingness to receive songs that recognize His sovereignty over our lives.
Next time David says, “Our fathers trusted in you”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
