In Psalms chapter twenty David said, “The LORD hear you in the day of trouble; the name of the God of Jacob defend you. Send you help from the sanctuary, and strengthen you out of Zion. Remember all your offerings, and accept your burnt sacrifice; Selah”, and in chapter twenty and verse four of Psalms David said, “Grant you according to your own heart” where we read,
Grant you according to your own heart, and fulfill all your counsel.
The verse begins, “Grant you according to your own heart, ...” David began with the words, “Grant you” which means “Give, put, set, appoint, assign and designate to you, people reading and hearing David's words” “according to your own heart” or “toward your, people reading and hearing David's words, inner man, mind, will, understanding and soul”. David desired that Jehovah God give to the people listening to him that which was toward and concerning their own mind and souls.
The verse goes on to say, “.... and fulfill all your counsel.” David continued with the words, “and fulfill” or “and make full and abundant, accomplished and ended” “all your counsel” which means “each, anything and everything pertaining to the people reading and hearing David's words, advice and purpose”: “Selah” or “lift up, exalt and pause to meditate upon it”. David wanted Jehovah God to accomplish and complete any advice and purpose the people who were listening to and reading his words had within their lives, and they were to pause and meditate upon this idea after knowing it.
When we think through the words in this verse, we realize how David desired for Jehovah God to make the “heart's desires” and the “plans” of the people listening to and reading his words to be successful. We all have “desires” within our souls, and we all make plans. David knew the people he was addressing would like to have those things fulfilled, and as they relied upon Jehovah God, He would care for them according to His Divine will and purpose. God loves people, and He demonstrated His love by sending His Son Jesus into the world. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (See John 3:16), and anyone who yields themselves to Him will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life with Him. Let the LORD be praised for His desire not only to grant us our “heart's desires” and “plans”, but also to realize He is willing to put those ideas in our souls so we align with His plans for our lives.
Next time David says, “We will rejoice in your salvation”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
