In Psalms chapter twenty-one David said, “The king shall joy in your strength, O LORD; and in your salvation how greatly shall he rejoice! You have given him his heart's desire, and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah. For you prevent him with the blessings of goodness: you set a crown of pure gold on his head. He asked life of you, and you gave it him, even length of days for ever and ever”, and in chapter twenty one and verse five David declared, “His glory is great in your salvation” where we read,
His glory is great in your salvation: honor and majesty have you laid upon him.
The verse begins, “His glory is great in your salvation:” David began with the words, “His glory is great” which means “His, king David's, honor, abundance, riches, splendor, dignity and reputation exists as numerous, intense, important and distinguished” “in your salvation” or “within your, Jehovah God's, deliverance, welfare, prosperity and victory”. David shared how his “riches, splendor and reputation” were abundant because Jehovah God provided him with deliverance and prosperity.
The verse goes on to say, “honor and majesty have you laid upon him.” David continued with the word, “honor” or “splendor, vigor, beauty, comeliness and excellency” “and majesty” which means “and glory, ornament and magnificence” “have you laid upon him” or “have you, Jehovah God, set, placed and availed on him, king David”. David declared that Jehovah God provided him with all the beauty, comeliness, excellence and magnificence that he enjoyed.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how David understood any deliverance and prosperity he received came from Jehovah God, and he knew any respect and magnificence he experienced was from Jehovah God as well. David was not a “self-made” man. He was a “Jehovah God made” man. David understood without God, he would not exist, and all the benefits and victories he experienced in his life were from God. God loved David, and because David loved Him in return, God blessed him. He desires the same for every person today, and He made a provision for this through His Son Jesus who came to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When Jesus died, He took the sins of the world upon Himself, and now anyone who believes and trusts in Him will receive forgiveness of sins and eternal life, age abiding life, with God. Praise be unto God who not only gives life unto us, but also is willing to bless us with physical and spiritual blessings.
Next time David says, “you have made him most blessed for ever”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
