In Psalms chapter twenty-one David said, “The king shall joy in your strength, O LORD; and in your salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!”, and in chapter twenty one and verse two David said, “You have given him his heart's desire” where we read,
You have given him his heart's desire, and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah.
The verse begins, “You have given him his heart's desire, ...” David began with the words, “you have given him” which means “You, Jehovah God, have bestowed, granted, consecrated and paid him, the king, David” “his heart's desire” or “his, king David's, wish, longing and appetite within his inner man, soul, inclination, determination and thinking”. David declared how Jehovah God granted him the wish, appetite and longing of his soul.
The verse continues, “... and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah.” David added the words, “and have not withheld” or “and have in no way refrained, denied or kept restrained” “the request of his lips” which means “the desire and longing of his, David's, language, speech and words”. “Selah” or “lift up, exult and meditate upon these things”. David wrote how Jehovah God did not deny nor refrain from granting the longings expressed by his words.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how David credited Jehovah God with granting him not only the passion of his soul, but also the petition of his “lips” or words. God watched over David, and David understood He was the answer to His soul and the responder to his longings. God loved David, and David loved God, and because he put his faith and trust in God, Jehovah cared for him. God desires to have this type of relationship with everyone who will believe and trust in His Son Jesus, and when they submit to Him, He will forgive their sins and grant them eternal life with Him. God is to be praised for listening to and providing everything a believer in Him desires according to His perfect will, purpose and plan.
Next time David says, “You prevent him with the blessings of goodness”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
