In Psalms chapter twenty David wrote, “Now know I that the LORD saves his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand. Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God”, and in chapter twenty and verse eight of Psalms David said, “they are brought down and fallen” where we read,
They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright.
The verse begins, “They are brought down and fallen:” David began with the words, “They are brought down” which means “the nations and people who trust in chariots and horses exist as bowed, crouched, tilted and prostrate” “and fallen” or “and cast down, wasted away and inferior”. David said the nations and people who trust in their chariots and horses are bowed low and inferior.
The verse goes on to say, “but we are risen, and stand upright.” David continued with the words, “but we are risen” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover we, David and the people reading and listening to his words, exist as maintained, established and confirmed”, “and stand upright” which means “and are restored, relieved and solemnly affirmed”. David wrote how he and the people reading and listening to his words were established and affirmed in contrast to others who trusted in their chariots and horses.
When we consider the words in this verse, we understand through David the results of trusting in chariots and horses verses trusting in Jehovah God. Those who put their faith in their worldly armament are made inferior to people who put their trust in Jehovah. God loves people, and His desire is to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus. When we submit to Him, we are forgiven of our sins and granted everlasting life with God. Our faith is in Him and not the weapons of the world, and because nothing is greater than He, all those who trust in other things will be made inferior and bow before Him. Let God be praised for His wonderful protection of those who trust in Him, and may all who trust in other things be warned.
Next time David says, “Save, LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
