Save, LORD - Psalms 20:9

In Psalms chapter twenty David wrote, “Now know I that the LORD saves his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand. Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the LORD our God. They are brought down and fallen: but we are risen, and stand upright”, and in chapter twenty and verse nine of Psalms David said, Save, LORD” where we read,

Save, LORD: let the king hear us when we call.

The verse begins, “Save, LORD: David began with the word, “Save” which means “deliver from troubles and give victory”, “LORD” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for our One True God”. David called upon Jehovah God to rescue, deliver and give victory to him and the people reading and listening to his words.

The verse continues, let the king hear us when we call. David added the words, “let the king” or “allow and permit the royal judge and ruler” “hear us when we call” which means “respond to, answer and pay attention to us, David and the people reading and hearing his words, at the time and moment we, David and the people reading and hearing his words, cry out, utter aloud and summon”. David desired that the “Supreme ruler and judge” pay attention to him and the people reading and listening to his words at the time they summon Him.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how David concluded this Psalm by calling out to Jehovah God to rescue and deliver he and the people reading and listening to his words whenever they cried out to Him. God wants to “save” people, and this is accomplished by believing and trusting in His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”. When we put our faith in Him, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life. This is the ultimate and eternal salvation Jehovah offers, and we shall praise Him forever for hearing us as we cried out to Him.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see David say, The king shall joy in your strength, O LORD;, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
