In Psalms chapter sixty-one David said, “Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer”, and in chapter sixty-one and verse two of Psalms David said, “From the end of the earth will I cry unto you” where we read,
From the end of the earth will I cry unto you, when my heart is overwhelmed:
lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
The verse begins, “From the end of the earth will I cry unto you, when my heart is overwhelmed:” David began with the words, “from the end of the earth” or “from the extremity, border, outskirts, brim and edge belonging to the country, territory, region and world”, “will I cry unto you” which means “shall I, David, call aloud, summon and invite you, Divine judge Jehovah God”, “when my heart” or “at the time and moment my, David's, inner man, mind, will, understanding, inclination, resolution, determination and conscience” “is overwhelmed” which means “is turned aside, feeble, faint and languishing”. David said at the time his soul and mind were turned aside and languishing he would shout to Jehovah God from the extremity of the world.
The verse goes on to say, “lead me to the rock that is higher than I.” David continued with the words, “lead me” or “guide, govern and direct me, David” “to the rock” which means “toward the strong rocky cliff, wall and boulder” “that is higher than I” or “that rises above, is lofty, exalted and uplifted to an extolled place”. David desired that Jehovah God guide him to the solid and strong foundation that was exalted above him.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David shouted aloud to the Divine judge Jehovah God from the extremity of the world at the time and moment that his soul and mind were greatly troubled and faint. He wanted God to guide him to the solid and strong base that was exalted above him. David knew where to go when he encountered difficulties and troubles, and God was always attentive when David “cried out” to Him. God loves us in this manner as well, and He demonstrated it when He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins. When yield to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, we will be forgiven of our sins and granted everlasting. Then when we are “overwhelmed”, we may turn to the Divine judge Jehovah God who will lead us to a place that is greater than we.
Next time David says, “you have been a shelter for me, and a strong tower”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
