O LORD, Your Enemies Shall Perish - Psalms 92:9

In Psalms ninety-two the Psalmist said, “When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever. But you, LORD, are most high for evermore”, and in chapter ninety-two and verse nine of Psalms the Psalmist said, “O LORD … your enemies shall perish” where we read,

For, lo, your enemies, O LORD, for, lo, your enemies shall perish;

all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.

The verse begins, For, lo, your enemies, O LORD, for, lo, your enemies shall perish; The Psalmist began with the words, “for, lo” or “because, since and on account that, behold, look and consider”, “your enemies” which means “your, Jehovah God's, hating foes and adversaries”, “O LORD” or “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “lo, your enemies” which means “behold, look and consider your, Jehovah God's, hating foes and adversaries” “shall perish” or “will go astray, vanish, be destroyed and exterminated”. The Psalmist said Jehovah God's hating foes and adversaries would vanish and be exterminated.

The verse goes on to say,all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered. The Psalmist continued with the words, “all the workers of iniquity” or “each, every, the whole and everyone of the people who commit, make, ordain and practice trouble, wickedness, idolatry and sorrow” “shall be scattered” which means “will be separated, divided, dispersed and out of joint”. The Psalmist said every one of the people who commit and practice wickedness, trouble and idolatry would be separated and dispersed.

When think through the words in this verse, we learn how the Psalmist said Jehovah God's hating foes and adversaries would be exterminated and destroyed, and every person who commits and practices wickedness and idolatry would be put out of joint and dispersed. Although it may appear for some time that the wicked prosper and those who hate God are advancing, they will be brought into judgment. Every person will give an account of their deeds whether they were good or evil, and because “all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (See Romans 3:23), everyone is in need of someone to rescue them from the pending judgment to come. God sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross to pay the penalty for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and rescue us from His pending judgment that will come when we take our last breath on earth. (See Hebrews 9:27 and 2 Corinthians 5:21)

Next time the Psalmist says, “my horn shall you exalt like the horn of a unicorn”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
