Jeshua, Moladah and Bethphelet - Nehemiah 11:26

In the book of Nehemiah, Nehemiah said, For it was the king's commandment concerning them, that a certain portion should be for the singers, due for every day. And Pethahiah the son of Meshezabeel, of the children of Zerah the son of Judah, was at the king's hand in all matters concerning the people. And for the villages, with their fields, some of the children of Judah dwelt at Kirjathearba, and in the villages thereof, and at Dibon, and in the villages thereof, and at Jekabzeel, and in the villages thereof”, and in chapter eleven and verse twenty-six of Nehemiah, Nehemiah shared about, “Jeshua, Moladah and Bethphelet” where we read,

And at Jeshua, and at Moladah, and at Bethphelet, ...

The verse reads, And at Jeshua, and at Moladah, ...” Nehemiah began with the words, “and at Jeshua” which means “and within the village of Jeshua whose name means he is saved ”, “and at Moladah” or “and at the village of Moladah birth or race”. Nehemiah shared how “Jeshua and Moladah” were among the villages where the offspring of Judah resided.

The verse continues, “... and at Bethphelet, ...” Nehemiah added the words, “and at Bethphelet” which means “and at the village of Bethphelet whose name means house of escape or place of escape”. Nehemiah shared how “Bethphelet” was also among the villages where the progeny belonging to Judah lived.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Nehemiah that three more villages whose names mean, “he is saved, birth and place of escape” were places the people of Judah lived. God wants us to be “saved”, and He was responsible for our “birth”. He is our place of “escape”, and when we yield to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind and was raised from the dead after three days, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and lead us by His Holy Spirit to the places He wants us to live and serve in His Kingdom.

Next time Nehemiah shares about, “Hazarshual, Beersheba and in the villages thereof”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
