In the book of Nehemiah, Nehemiah said, “these are the sons of Benjamin; Sallu the son of Meshullam, the son of Joed, the son of Pedaiah, the son of Kolaiah, the son of Maaseiah, the son of Ithiel, the son of Jesaiah. and after him Gabbai, Sallai, nine hundred twenty and eight”, and in chapter eleven and verse nine of Nehemiah, Nehemiah said, “Joel the son of Zichri was their overseer” where we read,
And Joel the son of Zichri was their overseer: and Judah the son of Senuah was second over the city.
The verse reads, “And Joel the son of Zichri was their overseer:” Nehemiah began with the words, “and Joel” whose name means “Jehovah is God” “the son of Zichri” which means “the male offspring and progeny belonging to Zichri whose name means memorable” “was their overseer” or “existed as their, the people of Israel's, commissioner, deputy, superintendent, officer and one in charge”. Nehemiah shared how “Joel” who was the male offspring of “Zichri” was the commissioner of the people of Israel in Jerusalem.
The verse goes on to say, “and Judah the son of Senuah was second over the city.” Nehemiah continued with the words,“and Judah” whose means “praised and was the kingdom comprised of the tribes of Judah and Benjamin which occupied the southern part of Canaan after the nation split upon the death of Solomon” “the son of Senuah” or “the male offspring and progeny belonging to Senuah or Hasenuah whose name means bristling” “was the second over the city” which means “existed as the second in rank above the place of dwelling or Jerusalem”. Nehemiah shared how the male offspring of“Senuah” whose name was “Judah” existed as the second in charge over the city of Jerusalem.
When we meditate upon Nehemiah's words in this verse, we discover the names of the people who were in charge of the city of “Jerusalem”. “Joel” served as the governor, and “Judah” served as the lieutenant governor. God's order was being established, and He continues to work in an orderly manner today. First, we are to receive His Son Jesus who died on the cross and was raised from the dead three days later as our personal “Savior and Lord”. Afterward we will be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and placed within God's Kingdom according to His perfect will and purpose for our lives. Let all who read these words surrender to Jesus and allow themselves to be used in His Kingdom for His great blessing and pleasure.
Next time Nehemiah shares about, “the priests: Jedaiah the son of Joiarib, Jachin”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
