In Psalms chapter thirty three David wrote, “The LORD looks from heaven; he beholds all the sons of men. From the place of his habitation he looks upon all the inhabitants of the earth. He fashions their hearts alike; he considers all their works. There is no king saved by the multitude of an host: a mighty man is not delivered by much strength”, and in chapter thirty three and verse seventeen of Psalms David shared how, “a horse is a vain thing for safety” where we read,
An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.
The verse begins, “An horse is a vain thing for safety:” David began with the words, “An horse” which means “a swallow or swift horse like those used for chariots and war” “is a vain thing” or “exists as a lie, deception, disappointment, falsehood and wrong” “for safety” which means “as deliverance, salvation, help and victory”. David declared a “war horse” to be deceptive and false as a means of salvation and deliverance.
The verse goes on to say, “neither shall he deliver any by his great strength.” David continued with the words, “neither shall he deliver any” or “nor and not in any way will he, a horse, provide an escape, slipping away or rescue” “by his great strength” which means “through the means of his, the horse's, abundant, huge and plentiful amount of might, efficiency, wealth and power”. David wrote how a “horse” will in no case rescue or save anyone through the use of it's huge and abundant power.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how David declared that a “mighty and powerful war horse” was an empty and useless means for protection, rescue and salvation. Even though the “horse” was a powerful advantage for people who went to battle in David's day, it was Jehovah God who created the “horse”. In other words, Jehovah God is the “power” behind the horse's ability. God loves people, and He protects us from things both known and unknown. He sent His Son Jesus to defeat sin and death as Paul the Apostle said, “For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.” (See Romans 8:2) Without Jehovah God, no one could be rescued, saved and delivered, and when we believe in His Son Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will rescue us from the penalty of sin and grant us everlasting life with Him in Heaven. We honor, glorify and praise Jehovah God when we surrender to His Son Jesus and understand that all power and might comes from Him, even the strength of a “horse”.
Next time David shares how, “the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
