In Psalms chapter thirty two David wrote how Jehovah said, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you shall go: I will guide you with my eye. Be you not as the horse, or as the mule, which have no understanding: whose mouth must be held in with bit and bridle, lest they come near unto you”, and in chapter thirty two and verse ten of Psalms David said, “Many sorrows shall be to the wicked” where we read,
Many sorrows shall be to the wicked:
but he that trusts in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about.
The verse begins, “Many sorrows shall be to the wicked: ” David began with the words, “Many sorrows” which means “a great, numerous and large number of pains, anguishes, afflictions and griefs” “shall be to the wicked” or “will exist for people who are criminal, guilty of sin and hostile against God or man”. David said people who are criminal and guilty of sinful acts against God and man will have a multitude of afflictions and griefs in their lives.
The verse goes on to say, “but he that trusts in the LORD, mercy shall compass him about.” David continued with the words, “but he that trusts” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover the person whether male or female who has confidence, boldness, hope and faith” “in the LORD” which means “within Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “mercy shall compass him about” or “goodness, lovingkindness and faithfulness will surround, encompass and encircle that person”. David wrote how the person who puts their faith and confidence in Jehovah God will be surrounded and encompassed with His goodness, kindness and faithfulness.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see through David how people are rewarded according to their own walk in life. People who are evil and hostile to God and others will be rewarded with numerous afflictions and griefs, however, people who put their faith and trust in Jehovah God will receive His kindness and faithfulness. God loves everyone, and His desire is for them to follow His ways of righteousness. He sent His Son Jesus to live as an example and to die as a sacrifice for the sins of the world, and anyone who puts their faith and trust in Him will be forgiven of their sins, granted everlasting life and surrounded with God's faithfulness and lovingkindness. We are wise when we surrender our lives to Jesus and put our faith and trust in Him because doing so gains access to a “Blessed” life rather than one of great and numerous “sorrows”.
Next time David says, “Be glad in the LORD”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
