In Psalms chapter thirty four David wrote, “The angel of the LORD encamps round about them that fear him, and delivers them”, and in chapter thirty-four and verse eight of Psalms, David said, “O taste and see that the LORD is good” where we read,
O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusts in him.
The verse begins, “O taste and see that the LORD is good:” David began with the words, “O taste and see” which means “O perceive and inspect, consider and behold” “that the LORD” which means “that Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “is good” or “exists as pleasant, agreeable, excellent, rich and valuable”. David encouraged his readers and listeners to “perceive” and observe how Jehovah God exists as pleasant, excellent, rich and valuable.
The verse continues, “blessed is the man that trusts in him .” David added the words, “blessed is the man” or “O how happy exists the person” “that trusts in him” which means “who seeks refuge, flees for protection and confides in Jehovah God”. David wrote how the person who puts their faith and confidence in Jehovah God is “O how happy”.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see David's desire for everyone who reads and listens to his words to “taste” or perceive and “see” or observe how pleasant, agreeable, rich and valuable Jehovah God really is. David said the person who puts their confidence and faith in Jehovah God will be “happy” and “blessed”. God desires to share His favor upon anyone who will yield themselves to His Son Jesus who came to die for the sins of the world. When we submit to Him, we will be forgiven of our sins, granted eternal life and enjoy the “taste, vision and happiness” of Jehovah God forevermore. Let us give praise, honor and glory to Jehovah God for making Himself available for anyone to “taste and see” that He is “good”.
Next time David says, “O fear the LORD, you his saints”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
