In Psalms chapter thirty three David wrote, “The LORD brings the counsel of the heathen to nought: he makes the devices of the people of none effect”, and in chapter thirty three and verse eleven of Psalms David said, “the counsel of the LORD stands for ever” where we read,
The counsel of the LORD stands for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations.
The verse begins, “The counsel of the LORD stands for ever, ...” David began with the words, “the counsel” which means “the advice, prudence and purpose” “of the LORD” or “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “stands for ever” which means “remains, endures, persists and is steadfast to antiquity, futurity, everlasting, perpetually and evermore”. David said Jehovah God's “advice and purpose” lasts unto futurity, perpetually and forevermore.
The verse goes on to say, “... the thoughts of his heart to all generations.” David continued with the words, “the thoughts” or “the devises, plans, purposes and inventions” “of his heart” which means “belonging to his, Jehovah God's, mind, will and understanding” “to all generations” or “toward each, every, the whole and everyone living during a period of time”. David wrote how Jehovah God's “devises, plans and purposes” are directed toward every “generation” of people who live.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through David the difference between the “counsel” and “devises” of mankind verses the “counsel” and “devises” of Jehovah God. God's advice, plans and purposes last forever, whereas mankind's advice, plans and purposes come to nothing. God loves us, and He desires to have a personal intimate relationship with every person through His Son Jesus. He sent Jesus into the world to die for our sins which separated us from God, and when we submit our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us His Holy Spirit who will guide us into all truth. (See John 16:13). God's words, plans, purposes and advice will never fail, and we give Him glory, honor and praise as we receive His Son Jesus and yield to His purposes and plans for our lives.
