In Psalms chapter thirty five David said, “Plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me: … let destruction come upon him at unawares; and let his net that he has hid catch himself: into that very destruction let him fall”, and in chapter thirty-five and verse nine of Psalms, David said, “my soul shall be joyful in the LORD” where we read,
And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD: it shall rejoice in his salvation.
The verse begins, “And my soul shall be joyful in the LORD:” David began with the words, “And my soul” which means “and my, David's, inner man, self, life, appetite, mind, living being, desires, emotions and passions” “shall be joyful” or “will exist as exulting, glad and gleeful as in spinning around in a dance” “in the LORD” which means “within Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. David declared that his inner man and mind would be rejoicing in Jehovah God to the point that he would spin around and dance to display it.
The verse goes on to say, “it shall rejoice in his salvation.” David continued with the words, “it shall rejoice” or “the soul of David will exult, display joy and be cheerful and glad” “in his salvation” which means “within his, Jehovah God's, deliverance, welfare and prosperity”. David shared how his “soul” would be cheerful and glad within Jehovah God's liberation, deliverance and prosperity.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David encouraged himself in the LORD, and it caused him to rejoice to the point of spinning around to display it. God wants us to trust and rely upon him, and when we yield to Him regardless of who is striving or fighting against us, He will come to our rescue and aid. God desires to “save” every person from the penalty of sin which is death, (See Romans 6:23), and when we surrender to His Son Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put joy and cheerfulness within our “souls”. Let us give praise and glory to the LORD God Almighty and His Son Jesus as we rejoice in His “salvation” for anyone who rises up against us.
Next time David says, “all my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto you”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
