In Psalms chapter thirty three David wrote, “Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous: for praise is comely for the upright. Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings”, and in chapter thirty three and verse three of Psalms David said, “Sing unto him a new song” where we read,
Sing unto him a new song; play skillfully with a loud noise.
The verse begins, “Sing unto him a new song;” David began with the words, “Sing unto him” which means “make music using your voice with the idea of strolling minstrelsy toward Jehovah God” “a new song” or “a fresh religious lyric of an ode or musical”. David encouraged his readers and listeners to make music by use of their voices with a fresh ode or musical.
The verse goes on to say, “play skillfully with a loud noise.” David continued with the words, “play skillfully” or “strike or strum strings gladly, pleasingly, right, well and thoroughly “with a loud noise” which means “by the use of an alarm, signal, sound of tempest or shout or blast of joy”. David wrote how those listening and hearing him should strike and strum their instruments with an alarm, shout and blast of joy.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how David wanted those listening and hearing him to “sing” with their voices and make loud and pleasing sounds of joy toward Jehovah God. God loves people to give Him honor and praise, (See Psalm 22:3) and when we yield our lives to God's Son Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, we have given Him the highest praise. This should cause us to sing music and play instruments to Him for all eternity. Let us yield to David's words and give glory, honor and praise to Jehovah God and His Son Jesus for the provision of our salvation for all eternity.
Next time David says, “For the word of the LORD is right”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
