In Psalms chapter thirty three David wrote, “An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength”, and in chapter thirty three and verse eighteen of Psalms David shares how, “the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him” where we read,
Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy;
The verse begins, “Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, ...” David began with the words, “Behold, the eye of the LORD” which means “lo, look, consider and observe, the mental and spiritual faculties belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “is upon them” or “exists and remains on the people whether male or female” “that fear him” which means “who are afraid, in awe and morally reverent toward him, Jehovah God”. David exhorted his listeners and readers to carefully consider that Jehovah God's mental and spiritual faculties are focused upon the people who are morally reverent and in awe of Him.
The verse continues, “... upon them that hope in his mercy;” David added the words, “upon them” or “on the people whether male or female” “that hope in his mercy” which means “who wait, tarry, trust and are patient in his, Jehovah God's, goodness, kindness, pity and faithfulness”. David added that Jehovah God's mental and spiritual faculties are also focused upon people who wait, tarry and are patient in His goodness, kindness and faithfulness.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through David how Jehovah God notices people who revere Him and are patiently trusting in His goodness and faithfulness. God loves people, and when we revere Him and hold Him in awe, we are in a position of humility where our expectation of His kindness and pity will be extended to us. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life with Him. Let us praise and honor Jehovah God for His willingness to observe us as we reverence Him and patiently wait for Him to extend His goodness, kindness and faithfulness to us.
Next time David shares about people who hope in Jehovah God's mercy, “to deliver their soul from death”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
