In Psalms chapter thirty five David said, “Plead my cause, O LORD, with them that strive with me: … let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt”, and in chapter thirty-five and verse five of Psalms, David appealed to Jehovah God to, “Let them be as chaff before the wind” where we read,
Let them be as chaff before the wind: and let the angel of the LORD chase them.
The verse begins, “Let them be as chaff before the wind:” David began with the words, “Let them be as chaff” which means “allow and permit the people who strive and fight against David exist as winnowed and loosened thresh” “before the wind” or “in the presence and face of the animation and agitation of the air”. David appealed to Jehovah God to allow the people who strove and fought against him to be like the winnowed “chaff” of wheat which is blown in the “wind”.
The verse goes on to say, “and let the angel of the LORD chase them.” David continued with the words, “and let the angel” or “and allow and permit the spiritual messenger or envoy” “of the LORD” which means “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name of the One True God” “chase them” or “thrust, drive and violently push away the people who strove and fought against David”. David wanted Jehovah God to send His spiritual envoy to violently drive away those who strove and fought against him.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David turned his enemies over to Jehovah God's judgment. Although David suggest the way God should handle the people who fought and strove against him, ultimately their judgment was left to Him. “Chaff” of wheat blown in the wind and Jehovah God's angel violently pushing away David's enemies would certainly accomplish his desire, and there is no doubt that God could use these methods. David's heart is open before the LORD, and because he had a personal relationship with Him, David could share his thoughts. God desires this kind of intimacy with all of us, and when we surrender ourselves to His Son Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”, He will enter our lives, forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and take care of our enemies in ways that He considers best for them.
Next time David says, “Let their way be dark and slippery”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
