In Psalms chapter thirty six David said, “How excellent is your lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of your wings. They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of your house; and you shall make them drink of the river of your pleasures”, and in chapter thirty six and verse nine of Psalms David said, “with you is the fountain of life” where we read,
For with you is the fountain of life: in your light shall we see light.
The verse begins, “For with you is the fountain of life:” David began with the words, “for with you” or “because, since and on account that alongside and in cooperation with you, Jehovah God” “is the fountain of life” or “exists the wellspring, source, sustenance, maintenance and flow of being lively, active, fresh, flowing and reviving”. David said Jehovah God possesses the wellspring pertaining to true, flowing and refreshing “life”.
The verse continues, “in your light shall we see light.” David added the words, “in your light” or “within your, Jehovah God's, brightness, clarity, prosperity and instruction” “shall we see light” which means “we, the people who put their hope and trust in Jehovah God, will observe, notice, discover and discern brightness, clarity, prosperity and instruction”. David wrote how Jehovah God possesses the clarity, prosperity and instruction people need, and when they submit to Him, He will enlighten them.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how David knew Jehovah God to be a “wellspring” of true “life”, and when he put his faith and hope in Jehovah God, he would be instructed and given clarity as he lived. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world: he that follows me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life” (See John 8:12), and “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world” (See John 9:5). When we yield our lives to Jesus as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He gives us His Holy Spirit who “will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come” (See John 16:11). Jehovah God loves people, and He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of every person. He wants to have an intimate relationship with everyone, and when we humble ourselves, repent of our sins and receive Jesus into our lives, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide His “light” to guide us every day of our lives.
Next time David says, “continue your lovingkindness unto them that know you”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
