In Psalms chapter thirty three David wrote, “the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth. He loves righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD”, and in chapter thirty three and verse six of Psalms David said, “by the word of the LORD the heavens were made” where we read,
By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
The verse begins, “By the word of the LORD were the heavens made;” David began with the words, “by the word” which means “through the use of the means of the speech, utterance and acts” “of the LORD” or “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “were the heavens made” which means “the visible sky, abode of the stars, atmosphere and universe were produced, fashioned, attended to and appointed”. David said Jehovah God spoke the universe and sky into existence.
The verse continues, “and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.” David added the words, “and all the host of them” or “and each, every, the whole and everyone of the sun, moon and stars” “by the breath” which means “through the means of wind, spirit and energy” “of his mouth” or “belonging to Jehovah God's organ for speech”. David shared how every one of the celestial bodies were spoken into existence by the organ for speech of Jehovah God.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David acknowledged that the sky, stars, atmosphere and universe were created by the “voice” of Jehovah God. He spoke them into existence, (See Genesis 1:1; John 1:1-3; Hebrews 11:3; 2 Peter 3:5) and He created people to live beneath them. God's voice is powerful, and yet, it is still and small enough to speak to the heart of every person who will listen. He leads us by His Holy Spirit into a relationship with Himself through His Son Jesus, and when we yield to Him, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life with Him. When we pause and think about the mighty power of Jehovah God and His Son Jesus, praise, honor and glory should flow from our mouths to declare the mighty voice of the One who created the universe and still desires to relate to us.
Next time David says, “He gathers the waters of the sea together”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
