In Psalms chapter thirty six David said, “Your mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and your faithfulness reaches unto the clouds. Your righteousness is like the great mountains; your judgments are a great deep: O LORD, you preserve man and beast”, and in chapter thirty six and verse seven of Psalms David said, “How excellent is your lovingkindness” where we read,
How excellent is your lovingkindness, O God!
therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of your wings.
The verse begins, “How excellent is your lovingkindness, O God!” David began with the words, “How excellent is your lovingkindness” which means “what value, prize, weight, preciousness, rarity and splendor exists in your, Jehovah God's, goodness, kindness and faithfulness” “O God” or “O Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”! David declared the value, weight and prize of God's goodness, kindness and faithfulness.
The verse continues, “therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of your wings.” David added the words, “therefore the children of men” or “wherefore, then, on this account and this being so the offspring and prodigy of people both male and female” “put their trust” which means “place, set, fix and establish their confidence, hope and refuge” “under the shadow of your wings” or “beneath the shade, protection and defense belonging to your, Jehovah God's, extremities, skirt, boarder and overspreading”. David said because Jehovah God's “lovingkindness” is “excellent”, people and their offspring place themselves beneath the covering of his overspreading.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David made a declaration concerning the “goodness, kindness and faithfulness” of Jehovah God, and for this reason, people hope in Him and hide beneath His protection and defense. God remains the same, (See Hebrews 13:8) and His desire is to be the protector of anyone who yields themselves to His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”. God loves people, and He sent Jesus into the world to be crucified for the sins of mankind. He raised Jesus from the dead three days later, and now anyone who believes and trusts in Him will be forgiven of their sins, granted everlasting life and come under the protection of the Almighty God of the Universe. This is because of God's “lovingkindness” or “grace”, and we should give praise, honor and glory to Him for His wonderful provisions to all who believe.
Next time David says, “they shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of your house”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
