In Psalms chapter thirty four David wrote, “I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad”, and in chapter thirty-four and verse three of Psalms, David said, “O magnify the LORD with me” where we read,
O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.
The verse begins, “O magnify the LORD with me, ...” David began with the words, “O magnify” which means “O promote, make powerful, praise and make great” “the LORD” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “with me” which means “alongside me, David”. David encouraged his listeners and readers to promote and make Jehovah God great alongside him.
The verse goes on to say, “... and let us exalt his name together.” David continued with the words, “and let us exalt” or “and allow and permit us, David and his fellow believers, to lift up, extol and raise” “his name together” which means “his, Jehovah God's, reputation, fame and glory unitedly and all at once”. David encouraged the people reading and listening to his words to “lift up and extol” Jehovah God's reputation and fame in a united way.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how David broke out in praise and honor to Jehovah God as he encouraged people reading and listening to his words to lift up the reputation, fame and glory of Jehovah God with one another. God loves people, and when they collectively give Him honor and praise, they put themselves in a position to be blessed with His grace and mercy. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified for the sins of every person, and He was innocent. (See 1 Corinthians 5:21). Because Jesus died for our sins, when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life. Let us join with David and his fellow believers and “magnify the LORD” and “exalt his name together”.
Next time David says, “I sought the LORD, and he heard me”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
