The Foot of Pride - Psalms 36:11

In Psalms chapter thirty six David said, “O continue your lovingkindness unto them that know you; and your righteousness to the upright in heart”, and in chapter thirty six and verse eleven of Psalms David said, “let not the foot of pride come against me” where we read,

Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked remove me.

The verse begins, Let not the foot of pride come against me, ... David began with the words, “Let not the foot of pride” or “do not allow or permit the step, walking or pace pertaining to swelling, majesty, highness and haughtiness” “come against me” or “enter, attack or be brought in opposition to me, David”. David appealed to Jehovah God not to allow the pace or step of haughtiness to rise up in opposition to him.

The verse continues, “... and let not the hand of the wicked remove me.” David added the words, “and let not the hand” or “and do not allow or permit the strength, power and stroke” “of the wicked” which means “belonging to people who are criminal, guilty of sin and hostile to God to” “remove me” or “to shake, waver, flutter, wander to and fro, totter and bemoan me, David”. David asked Jehovah God not to allow people who were criminal and hostile to Him to make him shake, totter or wander to and fro.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn what David did with his concern over people who were haughty and criminal toward him. He took his cares to Jehovah God. The apostle Peter wrote, “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you”, and when we are troubled over the prideful acts of “wicked” people, we may take our cares to Jehovah God through His Son Jesus. Jesus came into the world to die for the sins of mankind, and anyone who yields their life to Him will be forgiven of their sins, granted everlasting life and come under the protection and defense of Almighty God who can defeat any foe. God loves us, and His desire is to have everyone come to Him and be saved. However, should they refuse and reject His Son Jesus as “Savior and Lord”, they will find themselves in direct opposition to the Divine ruler and judge of the universe who is able to defend against anyone who rises up against His own.

Next time David says, There are the workers of iniquity fallen, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
