The Godly Pray to Jehovah - Psalms 32:6

In Psalms chapter thirty two David said, “Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the LORD imputes not iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no guile. When I kept silence, my bones waxed old through my roaring all the day long. For day and night your hand was heavy upon me: my moisture is turned into the drought of summer. Selah.. I acknowledged my sin unto you, and my iniquity have I not hid. I said, I will confess my transgressions unto the LORD; and you forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah”, and in chapter thirty two and verse six David said, “for this shall every one that is godly pray unto you” where we read,

For this shall every one that is godly pray unto you in a time when you may be found:

surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come near unto him.

The verse begins, For this shall every one that is godly pray unto you in a time when you may be found: David began with the words, “For this” which means “because, since, on account and on behalf of Jehovah God forgiving David's iniquity and sin” “shall every one that is godly” or “will each, all, the whole and everyone of the people who are faithful, kind, holy and pious”, “pray unto you” which means “intervene, interpose, intercede and meditate toward you, Jehovah God” “in a time” or “within the occurrence, season and occasion” “when you may be found” which means “that you, Jehovah God may be acquired, met, encountered and secured”. David said the result of Jehovah God forgiving his iniquities and sin would be so every person who is pious and faithful whould be motivated to intercede to Him when there is still opportunity to do so.

The verse goes on to say, surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come near unto him. David continued with the words, “surely in the floods” or “notwithstanding, nevertheless and altogether within the outpouring of water, deluge and outrageous overflowing” “of great waters” which means “belonging to numerous, abundant, strong, dangerous and violent water flows” “they shall not come near” or “they, the violent waters, will in no way approach, reach, touch or strike” “unto him” which means “to the person who calls out to God to forgive their iniquities and sins”. David said even if dangerous “torrential rains and water flows” come, they will not reach or touch people who confess their transgressions to Jehovah God and receive His forgiveness.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn how David's life became an example to every person who has committed iniquity and sin. David confessed his sin, and Jehovah God forgave and covered his sin. This protected David from a torrential “flood” of judgment that could have been against him. Although David suffered consequences for his sin, He was spared from the judgment of God and encountered God's grace. God desires to extend His grace, His unmerited favor, toward anyone who will confess their sins, believe in His Son Jesus who died on the cross for their sins and receive Him to be the “Savior and Lord” of their lives. There is a coming flood of judgment upon those who do not believe in Jesus, (See Revelation 6-19) but we are invited to receive Him and avoid the torrential rains and floods that are certain to come.

Next time David says to Jehovah, you are my hiding place, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
