Psalms chapter thirty six begins with the heading, “[[To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David the servant of the LORD.]]” which breaks down, “To the chief Musician” or “to the overseer, superintendent, director or chief singer of a choir” “A Psalm” which means “a melody or poem set to notes” “of David” or “belonging to David whose name means blessed and was the second king of Israel” “the servant” which means “the slave, bondman or man of servile condition” “of the LORD” or “belonging to Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, and in chapter thirty-six and verse one of Psalms, David said, “there is no fear of God before his eyes” where we read,
The transgression of the wicked says within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.
The verse begins, “The transgression of the wicked says within my heart, ...” David began with the words, “the transgression” which means “the rebellion, revolt and sin” “of the wicked” or “belonging to the criminal, guilty, condemned and ungodly” “says within my heart” which means “utters, declares and proclaims inside my, the wicked people's, inner man, mind, will, understanding, soul, knowledge, thinking, reflection, memory, inclination, resolution and determination”. David said the rebellion and revolt of evil people utter the following words and idea within their soul.
The verse continues, “... that there is no fear of God before his eyes.” David added the words, “that there is no fear of God” or “there exists no terror or dread pertaining to the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God” “before his eyes” which means “in front, straight forward and within the sight of the wicked person's physical eyes used for observation and looking”. David wrote how the “wicked” person has no terror, respect, awe, reverence or dread of the Divine ruler and judge.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David declares how “wicked” people converse within themselves and determine there is no need to “fear” or dread Jehovah God. In other words, they either do not believe in Him or they believe He has no power, influence or authority in their lives. God's desire is for people to know Him, and as Jesus said, “this is life eternal, that they might know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent” (See John 17:3), and anyone may come to know Him through a relationship with His Son Jesus. God sent Jesus into the world to be crucified for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life. Let us give praise, honor and glory to Jehovah God and His Son Jesus who made a way for us to know and “fear” Him so His blessing will be in our lives.
Next time David says, “he flatters himself in his own eyes”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
