In Psalms chapter thirty five David said, “All my bones shall say, LORD, who is like unto you, which deliver the poor from him that is too strong for him, yes, the poor and the needy from him that spoils him?”, and in chapter thirty-five and verse eleven of Psalms, David said, “False witnesses did rise up” where we read,
False witnesses did rise up; they laid to my charge things that I knew not.
The verse begins, “False witnesses did rise up;” David began with the words, “False witnesses” which means “violent, wrong, cruel and unjust testimonies of people” “did rise up” or “arose and stood”. David shared how people who had cruel, wrong and unjust testimonies rose up against him.
The verse continues, “they laid to my charge things that I knew not.” David added the words, “they laid to my charge” or “the false witnesses required, demanded and requested of David” “things that I knew not” which means “of acts, deeds and words of which he was without perception and understanding”. David said the “false witnesses” accused him of acts and deeds about which he knew nothing.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through David about another action that was taken against him by those who fought and strove with him. They stood up to lie about him and accuse him of things of which he was totally unaware. The imagination of a foe knows no limits to fabrications and opinions formed against someone they hate, and David knew this personally. Jehovah God knew the truth, and David simply took the testimony of the “false witnesses” to Him. God loves us, and we can depend upon Him to be our advocate against anyone who rises up against us. He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of the whole world, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and defend us against those who fabricate lies against us. Let us give Him praise, honor and glory for intervening whenever lying opposition comes.
Next time David says, “False witnesses did rise up”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
