In Psalms chapter thirty six David said, “The transgression of the wicked says within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes. For he flatters himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity be found to be hateful”, and in chapter thirty six and verse three of Psalms David said, “the words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit” where we read,
The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he has left off to be wise, and to do good.
The verse begins, “The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit:” David began with the words, “the words of his mouth” which means “the speech, utterance, advice and answers belonging to his, the wicked person's, orifice in the face used for speaking and eating” “are iniquity” or “exist as trouble, wickedness, sorrow and idolatry” “and deceit” which means “and treachery, fraud, craft and guile”. David said the wicked person's speech is filled with trouble, sorrow, idolatry, treachery, fraud and guile”.
The verse continues, “he has left off to be wise, and to do good.” David added the words, “he has left off to be wise” or “he, the wicked person, has stopped, forgone, desisted and ceased being prudent, circumspect and proper”, “and to do good” which means “and to make ready, perform and produce pleasing, glad, joyful and well placed benefits and content”. David shared how the wicked person stopped being prudent and circumspect, and he did not perform or produce any pleasing or joyful acts and deeds.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn more about what David thought of the “wicked person”. He said the speech of the wicked was contemptible and treacherous, and they were not circumspect, proper or productive in pleasing and joyful works. In other words, their “words” and deeds were evil and filled with trouble and idolatry. God knew this, and David poured out his heart to Him. Rather than attempt to change or alter the wicked person Himself, David called upon Jehovah God with his concerns. God loves everyone, and His invitation is for them to receive His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”. He sent Jesus into the world to die for the sins of all mankind, and anyone who surrenders to Him will be forgiven of their sins and granted everlasting life regardless of how “wicked” they have been. Let us give praise, honor and glory to Jehovah God who will save anyone who humbles themselves before Him and yields to His Son Jesus.
Next time David says, “he devises mischief upon his bed”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
