Righteousness Like the Great Mountains - Psalms 36:6

In Psalms chapter thirty six David said, “Your mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and your faithfulness reaches unto the clouds”, and in chapter thirty six and verse six of Psalms David said, “Your righteousness is like the great mountains” where we read,

Your righteousness is like the great mountains; your judgments are a great deep:

O LORD, you preserve man and beast.

The verse begins, “Your righteousness is like the great mountains; your judgments are a great deep:” David began with the words, “your righteousness” which means “your, Jehovah God's, justice, rightness, law and rule” “is like the great mountains” or “is similar to and in likeness to mighty hills, risings above the plains and majestic grazing places”; “your judgments” which means “your, Jehovah God's, justice, ordinance, seat of judgment, sentences and decisions” “are a great deep” or “exist as a massive, abyss or depth of the sea”. David declared Jehovah God's rightness, justice and law to be similar to the majestic “mountains”, and His justice and sentences were likened to the massive abyss of the sea.

The verse goes on to say, “O LORD, you preserve man and beast.” David continued with the words, “O LORD” or “Jehovah is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “you preserve man” which means “you, Jehovah God, deliver, liberate, save and make victorious people whether male or female” “and beast” or “and cattle, livestock or animals”. David spoke directly to Jehovah God as he declared His preservation and deliverance of both “people” and “animals”.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David continued his praise and honor of Jehovah God. David declared the rightness and justice of Jehovah to be like “high mountains”, and his sentences and defenses were like the depths of the seas. Jehovah God delivers, liberates and saves mankind and the animals He created, and He does so through His Son Jesus who came to die for the sins of all mankind. When we recognize who Jehovah God is, humble ourselves before Him, turn from our sinful ways and receive His Son Jesus into our lives, He will save, deliver and liberate us from the judgment to come and the wicked and evil that is in the world.
