As a Bridegroom and a Strong Man - Psalms 19:5

In Psalms chapter nineteen David wrote, “The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows his handiwork. Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night shows knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them has he set a tabernacle for the sun, ...”, and in chapter nineteen and verse five of Psalms David said the sun is, as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and … as a strong man” where we read,

Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoices as a strong man to run a race.

The verse begins, Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, ... David began with the words, “Which is as a bridegroom” which means “the sun exists like a man who is espoused to be married” “coming out” or “exiting, proceeding forth and departing” “of his chamber” which means “out of the bridegroom's canopy, closet or room of divine protection”. David declared how the “sun” in the sky rises like a “bridegroom” appearing from a protective room on the wedding day.

The verse goes on to say,... and rejoices as a strong man to run a race. David continued with the words, “and rejoices” or “and exults, displays joy and is glad” “as a strong man” which means “like a mighty, brave champion” “to run a race” or “to run swiftly, hurry and dart in a path for a running contest or competition”. David said the “sun” also displays joy like an athlete who is eager to swiftly run in a race.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David likens the appearance of the sun in the sky to a “bridegroom” exiting his quarters to attend his wedding or an athlete who is happy to swiftly run in a race. In other words, David was excited to share about the appearing of the sun which demonstrated God's power and might in the universe. God is omnipotent, omniscient and omnipresent, and He reveals Himself through His universe. He desires to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus, and when we submit to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us eternal life and speak to us through His word, works and universe. Let us give praise and honor to God who set the sun in it's order and expresses Himself through it's appearing.

Next time David says, his going forth is from the end of the heavens, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
