In the book of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said, “I have seen an horrible thing in the house of Israel: there is the whoredom of Ephraim, Israel is defiled”, and in chapter six and verse eleven of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said, “Also, O Judah, he has set an harvest for you” where we read,
Also, O Judah, he has set an harvest for you, when I returned the captivity of my people.
The verse begins, “Also, O Judah, he has set an harvest for you, ...” Hosea began with the words, “Also, O Judah” or “even so and indeed, O Judah whose name means praised and is the name of the tribes comprised of Judah and Benjamin which occupied the southern part of Canaan after the nation split after the death of Solomon”, “he has set an harvest”which means “he, Jehovah God, has appointed, fixed and established a process of gathering and reaping a crop” “for you”or “on behalf of you, Judah”. Hosea shared how Jehovah God said He established a gathering of crops for “Judah”.
The verse continues, “... when I returned the captivity of my people.” Hosea added the words, “when I returned the captivity” or “at the time and moment I, Jehovah God, desired to restore the fortunes” “of my people” which means “belonging to my, Jehovah God's, human beings both male and female”. Hosea shared how Jehovah God established “a harvest” when He came back to restore the fortune belonging to the “people” of “Judah”.
When we consider Hosea's words in this verse, we learn how Jehovah God desired to bless the people of “Judah” even though they had abandoned Him. God loves people, and the “goodness of God” draws people to repentance. (See Romans 2:4) God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and bless us with “a harvest”in this life and the next according to His Divine purpose and will.
Next time we begin a new chapter and see Hosea say, “the iniquity of Ephraim is discovered”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
