In Psalms chapter eighteen David wrote, “The LORD lives; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted”, and in chapter eighteen and verse forty-seven of Psalms David said, “It is God that avenges me” where we read,
It is God that avenges me, and subdues the people under me.
The verse begins, “It is God that avenges me, ...” David began with the words, “it is God” which means “the Divine one true Almighty and Supreme God exists as the One” “that avenges me” or “who brings vengeance upon the enemies of me, David”. David said Jehovah God brought vengeance upon his enemies.
The verse goes on to say, “... and subdues the people under me.” David continued with the words, “and subdues” or “and speaks to, leads, commands and puts to flight” “the people under me” which means “the human beings both male and female who are beneath and subject to me, David”. David wrote how God was the source of commanding and putting to flight the men and women who were subject to him.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how David gave credit to Jehovah God for bringing vengeance upon his foes and making the people over whom he ruled to be subject to him. In other words, God was the source of David's power, authority and might. David did not take the credit or the glory for putting himself in authority over others, and we are wise to give Jehovah God honor and glory for whatever positions we hold. God sent His Son Jesus to the world to die for our sins, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put us in areas of influence to bear witness of Him and His Kingdom. Let God be praised for His willingness not only to save us, but also to exalt us into positions which He alone can give access and provide.
Next time David says, “He delivers me from my enemies”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
