In Psalms chapter eighteen David wrote, “The LORD lives; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted. It is God that avenges me, and subdues the people under me”, and in chapter eighteen and verse forty-eight of Psalms David said, “He delivers me from my enemies” where we read,
He delivers me from my enemies: yes, you lift me up above those that rise up against me:
you have delivered me from the violent man.
The verse begins, “He delivers me from my enemies: yes, you lift me up above those that rise up against me:” David began with the words, “He delivers me” which means “He, Jehovah God, carries and calves me, David, to escape, be safe and secure” “from my enemies” or “apart and separate from my, David's, hating adversaries and foes”: “yes, you lift me up” which means “even so and indeed, you, Jehovah God, raise, set on high, exalt and extol me, David” “above those that rise up against me” or “over and superior to the people who stand, are fixed, established and proven in opposition to me, David”. David said Jehovah God rescued him from his hating foes, and He made him superior to the people who stood in opposition to him.
The verse continues, “you have delivered me from the violent man.” David added the words, “you have delivered me” or “you, Jehovah God, have rescued, made safe and given security to me, David” “from the violent man” which means “separate and apart from the person who is wrong, cruel and unjust whether male or female”. David wrote how Jehovah God also rescued and saved him from people who were cruel and unjust.
When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David credited Jehovah God for his rescue from people who hated him, and He even set David “above” them. He also rescued David from cruel and wicked people who wanted to destroy him. God loved David, and He loves all people. He desires to have a personal relationship with everyone through believing and trusting in His Son Jesus. When we submit our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and protect us and exalt us over adversaries who come against us. Let us give praise, honor, glory and credit to Jehovah God for His salvation plan and His willingness to exalt us to positions of authority according to His perfect will and plan.
Next time David says, “Therefore will I give thanks unto you, O God”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
