Great Deliverance To God's King - Psalms 18:50

In Psalms chapter eighteen David wrote about Jehovah God, “He delivers me from my enemies: yes, you lift me up above those that rise up against me: you have delivered me from the violent man. Therefore will I give thanks unto you, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto your name”, and in chapter eighteen and verse fifty of Psalms David said, “Great deliverance gives he to his king where we read,

Great deliverance gives he to his king;

and show mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.

The verse begins, Great deliverance gives he to his king; David began with the words, “Great deliverance gives he” which means “Jehovah God provides, grants and bestows magnificent, powerful and important salvation, welfare and prosperity” “to his king” or “to Jehovah God's royal ruler and judge”. David declared how Jehovah God provided him with powerful and magnificent salvation and prosperity.

The verse continues,and shows mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore. David added the words, “and shows mercy” or “and fashions, accomplishes and produces goodness, kindness and faithfulness” “to his anointed” which means “to Jehovah God's consecrated person, saint or priest”, “to David” or “toward David whose name means beloved and was the second king of Israel”, “and to his seed” which means “and toward David's offspring, descendants, posterity and children” “evermore” or “even unto everlasting, perpetuity and always”. David wrote how Jehovah God extends goodness, kindness and faithfulness to His “consecrated one”, David himself, and to all David's descendants until perpetuity of time.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David ended this Psalm with another recognition that Jehovah God rescued and saved him, and that it was His “goodness and faithfulness” which was extended to David and promised to his offspring forever. God delights in caring for people. He created them. He knows them, and He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross to pay the penalty for their sins so they could have a personal relationship with Him. When we receive Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us eternal life and demonstrate His “mercy and goodness” to us for ever and ever. Praise be unto God who not only delivered David in his time of need, but has promised to rescue us when adversity and difficulties come our way.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see David say, “The heavens declare the glory of God”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
